About the author

Kamila Musilová

Kamila Musilová (b. 1983) deals with themes of nostalgia, DIY tinkering, folk culture and the Czech passion for dogs. She has been engaged with these rural and family themes for a long time, exploring how different generations relate to visual forms of home-made creativity and kitsch. The starting point was her thesis Dědeček a Babička (Grandpa and Grandma), in which she used photography to create an unconventional portrait of her grandparents. The images show installations she assembled in their apartment from furniture and personal belongings. In her subsequent work she further depersonalizes and generalizes this rather intimate subject.
