The exhibition Žhavé uhlí polykat (Swallowing Hot Coals) by Tereza Příhodová (FAMU) was presented at the 5th edition of Fotofestival Uničov, themed Mísení žánrů (Mixing Genres). The exhibition — in which photography ceases to be a medium of record and becomes material for collages, objects and installations — took place at Malá galerie (Bří Čapků 690) and opened on Friday, May 1, 2015, at 17:00.
About the author
Tereza Příhodová studied photography at FAMU in Prague. In her work, photography ceases to be a medium of recording and preservation and becomes rather one of the materials from which her collages, objects, and installations are made. As components of wooden artifacts or combined with oil painting, her scorched photographs of mysterious landscapes and forests read more as symbols of decay and of a return to an original state than as a medium seeking to overcome time.
