Matyáš Chochola (b. 1986, Hradec Králové) is one of the most distinctive Czech contemporary artists. He studied sculpture at FaVU in Brno and then at AVU in Prague in Vladimír Skrepl’s studio. His work moves mainly in the media of installation and performance, combining symbols of the present with their archaic roots and using shamanism as one of his creative methods. He is a winner of the Václav Chad Award (2012) and the Jindřich Chalupecký Award (2016).
