Rafani
Rafani is a Czech art group founded in 2000 in Prague. The group consistently works with anonymous collective authorship—all works are created collectively and exhibited under the group’s shared name. Over the years its members have included David Kořínek, Marek Meduna, Luděk Rathouský, Viktor Frešo, Štefan Tóth, Jiří Franta, Pavel Sterec, and others.
Rafani established themselves with politically engaged projects exploring questions of national identity, collective memory, history, and post-socialist transformation. Their work includes painting, video, installation, performance, and book projects. The group has exhibited at the National Gallery Prague and other institutions.
At the 2nd edition of Fotofestival Uničov (Uničov Photo Festival) in 2012, their film treatise 31 konců/31 začátků (31 Endings/31 Beginnings, 2011) was screened at Teta gallery—a mapping of Prague’s alternative culture through 31 disparate fragments featuring 21 figures from contemporary art, literature, and political activism.
