HIC SUNT HEDEREX

A ruin overgrown with ivy. Ivy is a medicinal herb. In larger doses it heals nature. Ivy is also a city full of the living. The benefit of the individual disregards urban planning. Does ivy think beyond the horizon of short-term succession? Will we ever again plant trees that don’t bear fruit by their second year?

Daydreaming is more real than a sustainable society. We will turn inward only once we have an unconditional income. Ivy has an app for meditation.

We erased our ruin from the map. Thank you, Elon. No Street View will help you find the entrance. We tore up the rails and closed the roads. Only starving dogs (Leonbergers) roam the embankments.

Ivy has replaced the full-grown chestnut trees and formed the vault of a temple. The trunks of dead ash trees are piling up into new dams. The first plants are breaking through the concrete parking lot. Stairs. Columns. Stained glass. Naves. Vault. Branches instead of sandstone. Leaves instead of slate. The space is the same.

Soundtrack: Cormorants hunting, wounded fish. Played backward. Creaking joints. Played in slow motion. There is silence only in the elevator.

Houses have turned into a highly organized form of life. At last they can live without people. They band together and build new cities. Neither horizontal nor vertical. They communicate through mycelium. They migrate across time. Ivy creeps over the ruin, the last fixed point in time, and watches the clouds in the sky.
